SADC BASIC INCOME GRANT e-NEWSLETTER Issue 6 , Sept – Nov 2014
FROM THE SECRETARIAT
2014 has marked a dramatic shift in the manner in which cash transfers are viewed in Africa. Evidence from Namibia, Malawi, Zambia and as far as India all attest to the importance of cash transfers as part of the solution of eradicating poverty. We at the Secretariat remain committed to the call for a basic income grant in SADC.
In this year-end double volume Newsletter we share information, news, updates and analysis on the basic income grant/ cash transfers as well as providing space for broader discussion on social protection as a whole.
We therefore urge our readership to contribute, comment and make suggestions on how we can better improve this resource.
